The virtual caravane: a concept from quebec that is spreading across the country with canada games online
Montréal, September 1st, 2020 – La Caravane virtuelle, a tour of Quebec entrepreneurs, an event aimed at supporting the video game industry in Quebec, will be deployed with a Canadian flavour. Canada Games Online will be launched by the Canadian Interactive Alliance (CIAIC) in close collaboration with La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec and its counterparts based across the country in two phases during the month of September:
-
market pulse training (September 9-10) on international video game markets and on strategies for developing effective sales pitching.
-
b2b connect (September 17-18), which will provide an opportunity to present game concepts to various publishers and potential investors around the world. Already more than 50 publishers and investors have confirmed their presence, including EA, Nintendo, Konami, NetEase, Square Enix and 505 Games.
This commercial event is an integral part of the five-mission schedule developed by La Guilde and its partners to support the marketing of studio games abroad.
“The Quebec industry has quickly adapted to the imperatives of the context. We have been very proactive in putting in place means to support our member studios and we have made it our priority. It’s simply gratifying to see that our Canadian counterparts are calling on our expertise to support and protect an ecosystem whose economic benefits are important to the Canadian economy,” says Nadine Gelly, Executive Director of the La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec.
In fact, more than 33% of game studios are located in Québec. The province’s industry contributes $4.5 billion to the GDP, making it one of the world’s largest video game centres. This mission is made possible thanks to the collaboration of several partners: Ubisoft, the initiating partner of The Caravan, the Canada Media Fund, Canadian Heritage, Video Game PEI, DIGI BC, Digital Alberta, Interactive Ontario, Interactive Society of Nova Scotia, New Media Manitoba, Sask Interactive and La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec.
