La caravane virtuelle, a tour of quebec video game entrepreneurs

Montreal, June 24, 2020 – Organized by Ubisoft, La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec and Québec EPIX, in collaboration with the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and the Government of Quebec, the third edition of La Caravane runs until July 10 for independent studios in Quebec.

According to Nadine Gelly, Executive Director of La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec, “The current context forces us to reinvent our ways of doing things and to innovate. We are very pleased to have joined forces with key partners to support our studios in order to maintain our leadership position in the industry.

More than 45 studios participated in the first component. The program offered several training sessions on the art of effective online presentation, on key elements to be included in a deck to publishers and investors, and about the different specificities of the markets (Europe, Asia, North America). A second component will be offered to allow independent studios to pitch to experts and investors.

After this first week of training, Louis-Philip Grenier, CEO of Route 28 said “Really happy with the opportunity offered with La Caravane! I was able to gain additional skills and learn how to develop my business expertise with the webinars offered. This virtual caravan is a great lever to build our pitch deck and seek future collaborations with publishers or financial resources”.

For Laurent Mercure, Communications Manager for Chainsawesome Games, “The content of the virtual caravan conferences was really relevant for all independent studios working on their intellectual property, especially the new ones. Often in Quebec, we’re good at making games, but when it comes to marketing and business development, we lose our feathers. Knowing how to present your game in an exciting way to investors or our target audience is what will make the difference between a studio that will succeed and one that will hit a wall. »
