Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Best Practices Guide
The Best Practices Guide was designed specifically for members of La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec. It is intended as a tool for reflection, evaluation and reference with regard to the internal practices and organizational culture of studios. This Guide aims to present concrete practices and methods recognized as having a significant impact in terms of IED in the video game industry. Providing a more diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment has a direct impact on the well-being and sense of security of an organization’s employees. It also fosters creativity, productivity and project innovation. The aim of this document is to support our members in their approach and offer them a point of reference for appropriating these principles and applying them to their reality.
The document comprises four main sections that define and demystify the theory associated with DEI, namely the foundations of the concepts of diversity, equity and inclusion, the implementation of a DEI strategy, the implementation of an inclusive staffing and integration process, and the prevention of and fight against harassment. The appendix also includes a sample policy, a sample job offer, case studies and a list of external resources to provide studios with additional tools.
It is important to note that this version of the Guide represents the beginning of a series of initiatives associated with its content. In particular, the Guild is offering participatory workshops to encourage continuous learning. We will also be updating the content to support you in your IED processes.
We would like to thank our partners who have contributed to this industry-building project. In partnership with Beenox, and in collaboration with Élance, l’Aparté, l’Institut EDI2, and RIQEDI, La Guilde is proud to be able to offer its members a concrete resource for the development of inclusive organizational practices.
If you have any questions or need advice following your reading or participation in the various activities associated with the Guide, please do not hesitate to contact Béatrice Desjardins-Gagnon, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisor at La Guilde.
